Compare

One record, or four places to keep in step.

Most trading businesses run on a notebook, a spreadsheet, a till app and an accountant's file. Here is how that compares with separate apps, large ERP suites and Diwaan.

Fair notes

When something else is the right choice.

Notebooks and spreadsheets

Free and familiar, and fine for a stall with a few items. They stop working when stock moves between places, when more than one person sells, or when the accountant needs the month in order.

When it is enoughOne counter, one person, a few dozen items, and an accountant who visits once a year.

Separate apps

A till app, a stock spreadsheet and an accounting package. Each does its job, but none agrees with the others, so someone re-types the day every evening.

When it is enoughA business where one person can reconcile the apps each week without falling behind.

Large ERP suites

Broad and deep, built for companies with an IT team. Setup takes months, training takes weeks, and the words are written for accountants rather than cashiers.

When it is rightManufacturers and large groups with complex production or regulatory needs.

Questions

About switching.

Do I have to stop trading to switch?
No. Import on one day and start selling the next. You can keep the notebook beside the till for the first day if it helps.
What about my old records?
Bring opening balances and, if you want them, past invoices. Keep the old files for earlier years in case of tax questions.
Can my accountant keep using their own software?
Yes. They can export the journal and trial balance from Diwaan in standard formats. Many find everything they need is already in Diwaan.
What if Diwaan is not right for us?
Export everything, at any time, in spreadsheets and standard files. Diwaan is free while we launch and needs no card.

Run the business. The books keep themselves.

Free while we launch. Every part included. No card needed.
