If your items are already in a spreadsheet, you can import them in one go. Diwaan checks every row before anything is saved, so nothing half-imports.
Prepare the spreadsheet
Use one row per item. These columns are recognised automatically:
| Column | Example | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Rice, 25 kg bag | Yes |
| Code | RC-25 | Yes |
| Barcode | 6291041500213 | No |
| Sale price | 38.00 | Yes |
| Cost | 31.20 | No |
| Opening stock | 240 | No |
| Branch | Main Store | If you have several |
Import
- Open Stock, then Import items.
- Choose your file. Diwaan reads
.xlsxand.csv. - Match any column Diwaan did not recognise, or leave it out.
- Review the preview. Rows with problems are marked, for example Sale price is missing.
- Fix the rows in the preview or in your file, then choose Import.
Opening stock and the books
If you include cost and opening stock, Diwaan posts the opening stock value to the books, against an opening balance account your accountant can review. For example, 240 bags at $31.20 adds $7,488.00 to stock.
Want us to do it?
On Diwaan Business and Group, our team imports your items, customers and balances for you and checks them with you before they post. On Diwaan Shop, it is available as an add-on.
