  1. On the Sell screen, tap the barcode button next to the search field.
  2. The first time, the till asks to use the camera. Allow it.
  3. Hold the barcode inside the scan frame. The till reads it and adds the item to the sale.

Options in the scan frame

  • Torch turns the phone's light on and off, on phones that allow it.
  • Keep scanning keeps the camera open after each read, for scanning many items in a row. Each read adds the item once, with a short pause so the same box is not counted twice by accident.
  • The phone vibrates on each read where it can. A short beep is off by default; turn it on in More, then Scanning.

Codes the till reads

EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF and QR.

If an item is not added

  • No item has barcode 6291041500213. Add it in the full app. The code is not on any item yet. Add it to the item's barcode field, then scan again.
  • If the branch has none of the item left, the till says so and adds nothing.
  • If camera access was refused, allow it in the phone's settings for Chrome or the Diwaan Cashier app.
On Chrome for Android the till uses the phone's built-in barcode reader. On other browsers it downloads its own reader the first time, about 400 KB, and keeps it on the phone afterwards.
